The Frederick Basket Company kicks off its first annual Project Night Night benefit to help give the gift of comfort to children in area shelters. Now until January 9th, shoppers can donate money at The Frederick Basket Company, participating shops in Everedy Square and Shab Row, and online to assist in purchasing Night Night Packages for homeless kids.

Every $20.00 earned, purchases one Night Night Package consisting of a tote bag filled with a new security blanket, age appropriate children’s book and a stuffed animal. A charitable organization, Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year to homeless children nationwide. Recognizing the need right here in Frederick County, Vicki Moore, the owner of The Frederick Basket Company jumped onboard.

“This cause is near and dear to my heart. I remember when my kids were young and what their security items meant to them. I have a 23 year old that still loves her blanket,” said Vicki Moore, Owner of The Frederick Basket Company. “Receiving a Night Night Package when faced with a scary situation can be a saving grace.”

The merchants operating in Everedy Square and Shab Row have come together to support this cause and will be accepting donations. Participating shops include:
  • A Perfect Fit Bra Boutique
  • Daisy’s Salon & Body Boutique
  • Flights of Fancy
  • The Little Pottery Shop
  • The Loft Designer Warehouse
  • Primitive Homespuns
  • Frederick Coffee Company

According to Project Night Night, these packages help to reduce trauma and advance the emotional and cognitive well-being of children. Based on this, totes will also be donated to the Frederick Memorial Hospital’s pediatric unit to comfort children when receiving medical attention, other Frederick-area programs are:
  • Heartly House, Inc.
  • The Child Advocacy Center
  • Advocates For Homeless Families
  • Frederick County Public Schools
