These are the words of wisdom from Linganore Winecellars President & Wine Maker Anthony Aellen. To help dispel worry about pairing wines with the “right” foods, Aellen host tastings each month featuring an assortment of good eats. This month, international cheeses from France, England and some locally made will be on the menu. “It’s a taste experience but also an educational one,” said Aellen. “ We want people to feel confident about wine. We want to teach you how the wine changes with the taste of food.” You’ll be a pro once you’ve attended and Aellen is sure to dissipate any fear because this tasting includes 16 wines and 6 different cheeses. Yes, 16 wines! If cheese isn’t your thing, next month’s tasting is with chocolate, followed by everyone’s ultimate favorite, Girl Scout cookies. There’s no wine snobbery at Linganore Winecellars, “Everyone is a wine connoisseur, no one’s taste is wrong. If you like cookies and brownies, then eat cookies and brownies and find the wine that works,” says Aellen. The winery is on a sprawling 230 acre farm just outside the historic city limits of Mt. Airy. Events are held all year long, check out the calendar for more information about tastings, artful libations, cellar previews and concert series. Reservations are recommended and tastings cost $10.00 per person. Linganore Winecellars 13601 Glissans Mill Road Mt. Airy, MD 21771 410-795-6432
